Some history of the treatment I used…..
I think that my experience with chronic hives is unique. I think that I had a very lucky experience during my first bout with hives that resulted in an intentional cure. I was about 27 years old at the time. I did not then know with certainty if my actions had resulted in a cure and would have never had an inclination to claim as much. The cure process itself was not quick or easily interpreted. I only wondered. In successive years I had chronic hives four more times….more "opportunities" to repeat and test this cure. The substance that I used to cure myself was medically prescribed and not without risk. I did not use it as prescribed, but for a much lengthier period of time. In the beginning I never would have claimed it as a cure, but by the fifth time....over almost thirty-five years, I was finally convinced. Each time I repeated the treatment it worked….precisely as it had each time before. (I am talking about a curative treatment that I used in the past, not what I am promoting today.)
Somewhere during my last several bouts of hives, I learned that I could control it 100% with mineral oil, applied externally. As I automatically jump into the mode of controlling it that way, Hives is no longer the hellish disease that it once was for me. I don't enjoy having it, but now I look at it as a temporary, and not horrible inconvenience [relatively speaking, of course!] I knew that baby oil was not a cure used for weeks or a couple of months. But in my sixth bout of hives, I was motivated to find out if using it for longer would make a difference. I thought I might use it as much as two or three years if need be. I planned to stop using it every 6 months to see if I had achieved success. When I stopped using it after the first six months the hives began to return in about 3 to 4 weeks. I immediately went back to using the baby oil and checked in another 6 months, at the one-year mark. By that time I was hives free and remain so 5 years later. While using baby oil, it stops the symptoms so successfully that it is not possible to know if you are without the disease or merely without the symptoms. I concluded that when done long enough it was not just a control, but a cure. It may sound unpleasant to have to use mineral oil for a year in order to be cured, but I find that it is actually very easy to do and far preferable to having hive outbreaks for any length of time. The baby oil, as a cure, has not been repeat tested by me as I had done with my other method. (I have no way to do this by myself.) That is what I am trying to encourage others to consider now to see if they, too, can have success. Nevertheless, having had repeat tested it as a control, I know it worked well and would be, at minimum, a great relief for many people, if used only in that way.
